I am currently talking with Year 6 students about developing character by understanding how the Cornerstone Values can help guide them through life's journey. This song has great lyrics that provide us inspirational messages about not giving up and looking after each other. We shared this song at school assembly with the seniors as part of the Growing Leaders programme.
I had the opportunity to work with each of our senior classes with the focus on developing student leaders at Malfroy School. Currently students can apply to become a Receptionist, Road Patroller, Health Buster, PE Monitor, Milk Monitor, EnviroSchools, Sports Dynamo, Librarian and School Ambassador.
Students participated in a cooperative activity to see how well they could work together and problem solve.
Prior to school starting, teachers and support staff came together for two days of professional development. Day One featured revisiting the Cornerstone Values of our school, Inclusive Practices and Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC). An "Amazing Race" had groups travelling around Rotorua and learning about places of interest that would appeal to students.
Day Two began with guest speaker Tom Poata, speaking about "belonging" and "making connections" in our community. A variety of EOTC activities, group presentations of our "Amazing Race" and a hangi completed our special two days together.
Welcome to my blog.
