Well done to our team and Malfroy School community, students and staff for our recent write-up in the Health Promoting Schools issue recently. It was great to be recognised for this prestigious award, especially with all the hard work we have been doing. Ka rawe, Malfroy School! Please click on the link below to see the article.
Here at Malfroy School we are lucky enough to receive fruit and vegetables daily for every child at school. This coupled with Fonterra Milk, where the children receive a milk carton daily are important initiatives that help our children to be productive, focused learners. At Malfroy School we also supply breakfast to our children with the help of Kids Can. We strongly believe that a child learns better when they are filled with healthy nutritional products and we see the benefits not only in their learning and behaviour, but also in their overall well-being. We also have healthy lunch options through outside agencies, namely Pita Pit and Ka Pai Kai available to those who desire. Right now, we have made a commitment to a 'Waste Free' initiative. The children are expected to take all packets/pottles, gladwrap or anything really that they bring to school, back home with them. We have seen a dramatic drop in our rubbish bins already and the children are beginning to be more aware of the effect this has on their environment. Our hope is that this teaches our children to 'live more consciously and sustainably' for their future.
Keep up the great commitment to health and well-being Malfroy School! |
